Applications are now open for running and cycling enthusiasts who wish to take part in this year's 1000km Relay to Tokyo.

This relay event starts from Aomori on July 24, and will pass through seven prefectures, finishing in Tokyo on August 7. The route will take participants through areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake where recovery efforts underway.

It's free to take part. Deadline for applications is May 28.

Event: 1000km Relay to Tokyo 2019
Period：July 24 - August 7, 2019 （15 days in total）
Route: Aomori prefecture, Iwate prefecture, Miyagi prefecture, Fukushima prefecture, Ibaraki prefecture, Chiba prefecture and Tokyo metropolis prefecture. (1,300km in total)
