The Industry-University Cooperation Department at Tohoku University is currently accepting applications for an administrative staff position, centered around translating various administrative documents. One to two people will be hired.

The role involves administrative support for English-language agreements related to joint research with overseas companies, universities, and research institutes. Additional duties may be assigned based on operational needs.

Specific tasks include:

• Translating agreements and related documents between English and Japanese
• Assisting in negotiations with overseas companies in English
• Creating and proofreading English-language materials related to research agreements

Qualifications

• Business-level proficiency in both spoken and written Japanese and English (JLPT N1 or equivalent required)
• Bachelor's degree or higher

Working Conditions

• Working hours: Weekdays, 8:30-17:15 (7 hours 45 minutes per day)
• Days off: Weekends, national holidays, and the New Year holiday period (December 29-January 3)
• Overtime or holiday work may be required as needed
• Occasional remote work may be permitted for personal reasons, in accordance with university regulations

Compensation and Benefits

• Approximate annual salary: 4-6 million JPY, subject to experience and qualifications
• Commuting and overtime allowances
• Eligible for annual review and possible adjustment based on performance
• Contracts are issued annually and renewed at the start of each fiscal year subject to budget conditions and individual performance. Contracts may be renewed up to four times or until March 31, 2030, whichever comes first
